Training on data collection
In March Geodatics trained 30 Community Sales Officers (CSO's) in Geita, a region in the north of Tanzania, on how to collect information of farmers, by making use of the Jotbi app. This app, created by Manobi, is an important tool in collecting data on individual farmers and their plot of land. The information uploaded to the app forms a farmer profile. The profile functions as a starting point for the eventual site specific advice the farmer will receive from Geodatics.
All CSO's received a smart phone with the Jotbi application installed. After finding out all the ins and outs of the app it was time to practice: in small groups the CSO's interviewed farmers and uploaded the information. After two days the trainees are all ready for the real work. The Agrics team in Tanzania is recruiting new farmers to join the Geodatics program, the CSO's will assist with data collection.
