In March 2016 Geodatics tested a new app in Kenya among smallholder farmers. These smallholders also make use of farm inputs on credit, provided by Agrics. The first outcomes gave green light to continue.
Researchers of Wageningen University, Biomass Research and Manobi are developing various apps that can be used by agronomic companies to advise smallholder farmers on their plot of land. Wageningen University and Biomass Research are experts on collecting and analysing geological data. Manobi from Senegal will deliver the mobile platform and data exchange tools. By integrating this geological data with satellite information and a profile of the farmer we can translate this into a tailor made advice.
The next step coming up for May / June is the development of demonstration sites and the start of providing advisory services on pilot scale during the short rains season in Kenya.
